What to expect
First Session |
During your first session, I will offer you a friendly, empathetic, nonjudgmental environment where you can, in safety and comfort, start to discuss and make sense of your problems, giving me an overview of your current circumstances and past history.
Through further collaborative discussion we will then agree on the main current presenting problems and set realistic achievable time limited goals towards enabling and supporting recovery.
I will explain CBT in the context of your problem and ensure that you understand the rationale behind the treatment process before we go forward.
The number of CBT sessions can vary between 6 and up to 20 depending on the presenting problems. You will always be at the centre of your care and will be supported and empowered throughout.
You will be expected to undertake some homework tasks that are agreed on collaboratively and keep records of tasks undertaken.
